THE COLLABORATORY //
analog distortion in the digital age
What does it mean to combine forces in an experimental laboratory of analog creation?
Every artist brings their unique signature to the combined chemistry of the teams they might assemble; When artists endeavor to create together, the combinations of outcome explode into an infinity of new potentials.
Host artists Kaylin Rodriquez and Colin Hill team up to present spontaneous creations in analog audiovisual distortion that stretches common exposure to what is possible to create from mechanical photo and video processes. In this pop-up showcase they blend works of pure 35mm photography with analog distortion and original audiovisual creations in a multi-sensory array of explosive color and textural sound. With a multitude of MINI-IMMERSION STATIONS, a CENTERPIECE of distorted photographic works, an INTERACTIVE WALL, and a final live MUSIC AND PROJECTION SHOW, this daylong event will feature a little bit of something for anyone and everyone.
They invite DMOP participants and creators of all kinds to join via guest submission, event participation at the INTERACTIVE WALL via a HANDS-ON DISTORTION LAB and GLITCH PHOTO BOOTH featuring 35mm film photography process and projection feedback capture in a public collaboration of sight and sound between man and machine — where a glitch in the matrix is the art itself.
